Basic Automobile Insurance Policy In The U.S.

If you have a vehicle in the U.S., you also need to have insurance for your car. Automobile insurance requires that you have, at the very least, the following coverage: Third party liability coverage, which protects you when you accidentally damage other people’s property, or if someone else is injured or killed. Statutory accident benefits coverage, which provides benefits if you are injured in an automobile accident, notwithstanding who caused the accident. Direct compensation – property damage coverage, which covers any damage to your car or its contents as well as the loss of your vehicle or its contents provided that another person was at fault. Someone else causes the damage but you collect from your insurer the cost of the damage. However, the accident should take place in the U.S., at least one other vehicle should be involved in the accident, and that other vehicle or one of the other vehicles should also be insured by a licensed automobile insurance.
